The Banyan tree is the National tree of India. Banyan tree branches root itself and reproduce new branches and trunks and for this reason, it is believed that the Banyan tree is immortal. In India it has religious values, a legend and many myths and stories about the banyan tree are popular. In Hindu religion, the banyan tree is considered sacred and known as "Ashwath Vriksha". Another name for the Banyan tree is "Kalpvraksha" which stands for 'wish-fulfilling Divine tree' & 'The tree of knowledge'. The banyan tree represents the "Trimurti" as a one(god Vishnu, god Shiva, and god Brahma). This is the tree under which Lord Buddha got the knowledge of life and a new religion Buddhism came into existence.
